I was thinking today that it would be really cool to be able to read to Ian a list of the people who are reading this blog and praying for him. So, if you read the blog and pray for Ian, leave a comment on this post with your name and where you're from. I think it would be very encouraging for him as well as for us.
Thank you again for praying.

This is her usual prayer, "Dear Lord, Please help Ian to feel better, please help him to walk again and please help him to talk again. In Jesus Name, Amen."

I am praying for you, Ian! And please if you don't mind, pray for me too. I know sort of where you are coming from because I had a stroke 8 months ago and I can't talk--but I'm learning. I'll be sure to ask God every night to give you and Larissa the needed strength that it will take to get better. God will. Remember He is in control.

Hello, Ian and the entire Murphy family. I was in a small group with your Mom and Dad when I went to IUP in the 90's. I still have the comforting Psalm 91 card your mom gave to me. I've been drawn to this link by the Lord. Praying for your complete and total restoration in His perfect timing. 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 says: 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. I pray that you will not only be surrounded by His perfect comfort but that you'd also be able to be a comfort to those around you with your smile. Peace and blessings - Melissa Brady, Fayetteville, North Carolina

Dear Ian,
I hope you get this and can read it. My name is Mary Dixon and I am from Philipsburg, PA. I was at a Women of Faith conference in Columbus, Ohio and was traveling home on Saturday, April 25th when a car drove by with a bumper sticker that gave the website prayforian.com. I wrote it down and here I am. God has truly saved my life from a number of things and I know he will heal you. Please know I am praying for you and your beautiful family (I spent some time looking at the pictures). God bless you and your family! Sincerely, Mary Dixon, Philipsburg, PA

Ian, I suffered a severe brain injury April 28th before you. The doctors told my husband that I would die. My husband brought my 4 children to the hospital to say our final farewells. There is an amazing God ! I will never be the person I once was but amazing things can happen if we step out for God from where we are right now. I've been following your progress and praying for you and Larissa along the way. My husband understands too that like Larissa through all of the hard times, challenges and frustrations, when you truly love someone, it carries you through. Herd about your story on Chris Fabray today, just after coming home from Bible study. Verses from I Timothy were brought up...and I'm thinking of you two...and your families when I read them...
v. 6 "Godliness with contentment is great gain.....

v. 11 "...pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentliness. Fight the good fight of faith."

God Bless you all as you do this!

I just heard your story in Chris Fabry live.. and it made me cry.

I have been through something similar to what you are going through... When I was 23 God led me to marry a man with Leukemia. I loved him very much, but if anyone would have told me in life that I would do this I would tell them they are nuts!!!

I am not going to tell u that it was easy but it was awesome. I learned things and grew in so many ways that I can't even describe.

I did not get long with my husband, only 21 months but they were the best of my life, and from what I was able to read later in his journals I was the answer to his cries out to Go d to not go through this alone... Wow God chose me??? That still baffles me to this day.

He is gone over 20 years now, but there is not a day that goes by that I do not use what I have learned in my experience...

I am telling u all this to say .. do not be afraid, trust God even if u have no idea where the next step will take you. HE does!!!
Also be prepared in the future to pass it on.. all u have been through is not entirely for u.. sometime , somewhere there will be multiple opportunities to use what u have learned and are going through.. IT is AWESOME ENJOY THE JOURNEY!!

God Bless U Both!!!

Jackie

Dear Ian and Larissa,
I am so encouraged, strengthened, and filled with joy as I read through your blogs. Today my girlfriend introduced me to your story and I've been shocked by the amazing loving commitment that you've both shown. The greatest thing is that the love of our God is radiating from the both of you in so many ways. I'm sure you both still ask "why" questions, or for what specific purpose God has intended this all for the betterment of His kingdom and the conformity to Christ (Rom. 8:28-29). And, to that I'm sure you both are daily discovering the gracious mysteries of God through your sufferings. However, I just wanted to tell you that your story has deeply moved me in a difficult time in my life. I've been pursuing marriage with my girlfriend for awhile and we are still waiting till a few things fall in place. One key thing is that I must become a man ready for marriage; ready to sanctify her with the Word and love her always. To that affect, I want to let you know Ian that after reading many of the blog posts that I have learned from your souls desire to point Larissa to Christ always and being so faithful has greatly rebuked and exhorted me to Christ-likeness, and for that I am indebted to you. And Larissa, after reading of your unwavering resolve to be lovingly committed to Ian through such times and most importantly relying on the goodness of God's sovereign will, you have brought it to my attention that my girlfriend would most certainly do the same for me if such an accident occurred with me. From this I am more able to see the love that she has for me, and that I should be far more loving towards her as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. To conclude, I hope to include you joyfully in every prayer of mine from this day forward because of you both being true partakers of the grace found in Christ. May your marriage be blessed with joy and peace, founded and established upon the glorious gospel of grace. To God be the glory, for Christ's sake. I love you both, thank you so much.

Taylor Kern

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus
(Romans 15:5)

Lord I pray over Ian and Larissa. Give Ian the vision You have for him each and every day to grow in his relationship with You and to grow in his role as a husband. My heart grows heavy for Larissa though, Lord. I pray you give her more and more hope every day. As she wakes up to certain days of despair, tiredness, and weariness, show her how much of an inspiration her and Ian have been to thousands of people. Give her comfort in knowing that this is Your purpose and each day she lives is a journey she takes on to Spread your love through Ian's disability. Give them courage to press on, to keep running the race. Your hand is tight and your grip will not loosen. In Your name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged!

I've been praying for you both since I heard of Ian's accident in 2006. Glad your story is being told--your love for Jesus despite severe trials is inspiring and faith-building. I'm humbled to have the privilege to watch from afar and to pray.

I was in a hunting accident in October, and lost sight in my right eye. At first I was unwilling to pray for my sight to be regained, because I was sure that it would never happen, and I didn't want to lose hope.

Your story has been just one more affirmation since I decided to just pray anyway, knowing that God alone can heal me, but even if he doesn't...He is good.

SO encouraged by your story. Praying for you every Wednesday starting today.

Hi Ian and Larissa! Your video came up on my news feed on Facebook, and I found/messaged Carolyn on Facebook to tell her how beautiful your story was. Then she gave me your blog! My dad was involved in a car accident which resulted in him having a severe enclosed head injury. My mom and dad had been dating for a little while before the accident, and were married somewhat shortly after his accident as well. Then 7 years later I was born! (I'm 21 now, so that was quite some time ago). Your story was oddly similar to my parents (although the circumstances were a lot different), so similar that I was crying. Not with sadness. but with great joy! I've seen the Lord work in my life through everything as I was growing up and even still this day, and it brings me joy to see Him using your story and testimony to impact lives for His kingdom! It's a long road, and it's never easy. Life in general is never easy, but as long as you continue to seek Jesus, everything that we experience seems so small compared to what He experienced here! Use every day as an opportunity to grow in your relationship with him and faithfulness in him through what is thrown at you! You two are a beautiful couple, with an incredible story, and I really am so blessed by it. Thank you for the willingness to open up your lives and share everything! If you'd ever like to talk, I would LOVE that! (if you have Facebook, you can search my name and easily find me!). Praying for you every day especially about the things that come along with it that most don't understand!

Your sister in Christ,

I came across your story on FB today and am so thankful that I did. I am a born again Christian and am married to a wonderful, godly man and have 2 precious children however, I spent some time praying by the lake this morning, frustrated with current circumstances we face and the strains of every day life of raising a family and asked the Lord to "speak" to me to grant me some encouragment in a seemingly discouraging time. The rest of the day He seemed to be silent. By the end of the evening I came across your story via a link on FB. I tend to pass by the stories or links on FB however I believe the Lord sovereignly led me to click on the link and watch the video of your story and for that I am grateful. So much I would love to say but I shall try to keep it to a minimum. In short, it was a wake up call for me, a revealing of my own heart and a jolt I needed to refocus on the Lord and to be thankful for where I am, what I have and what He is doing. I am amazed at what God is doing in your life and how He has graciously strengthened you both to live life to the fullest, to be thankful and continue to persevere in His strength each day, even on those days where you want to throw in the towel. God's love and grace is so rich in your lives and He is using that to minister to so many, including a fellow sister in Christ in a small town in Ontario, Canada. I will lift you up in my prayers Ian, and you as well my dear sister in Christ, Larissa. The Lord bless you and protect you and give you continued strength, peace and unspeakable joy as you continue to run the race for His glory!

Dear Ian and Larissa,

It has been such a blessing to our souls to hear of the great testimony that the Lord is weaving together in your lives. We recently watched the video of your marriage and read your posts on Piper's website during our marriage series. Your story has touched our lives and many in our church. Though there may be days that are tough always remember this:

Isaiah 43:1b-3a
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by my name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

How great is this promise that the Lord will preserve us through the many trials that come our way. May the Lord strengthen and renew your souls one day at a time.
