I was trying to remind Ian of these truths today- remind him that God's love for him will never cease. Because this is God's sovereign plan, we know that somehow, in some way, this affliction is better for Ian right now than starting his career, writing scripts for movies or getting married would be. I definitely don't understand how, but I believe that it's true. And I believe that God will never cease to love and pardon Ian, and the Murphys, and myself, and everyone else impacted by this trial.
I'm learning every day what it means to place my hope and trust into God. I can't see into the future, I can't see what the end result of this is, I can't see when Ian will wake. But God can. And in Him is where I want to put my trust.

So sorry we couldn't get over there to spend some time with him tonight-maybe in the next few days...please let us know if there's another time that you'd like us to go when you can't be there. Of course, those won't be the only times, but you know what I mean!

Larissa, I don't know you personally but Ian's mom and dad are my dearest friends. I have known them since junior high. I'm so glad they have you to share this part of our journey together. You are right when you say you know that we know that somehow, in some way, this affliction is better for Ian right now than starting his career, writing scripts for movies or getting married would be. I've been reading the book of John and the story of the man born blind. The disciples asked Jesus why this happened to this family. Jesus replied,"But this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life." This verse keeps playing over and over in my mind and I wanted to share it with you all. We pray daily for Ian and all of you.

Larissa, it amazings me how much strength god has given you to get through all of this. I like many others who have posted do not know you. But, i have grown up with ian's cousin sarah and have gone to her fathers church for many years. The strength that you show is a true insuration to me because i am going trough a rough time right now. I will continue to keep you ian and his family in my prayers.
