"What we judge to be tragic- the most dreaded things that could happen, I expect we'll one day see as the awesome reason for the beauty and uniqueness of our life and our family."
-Keep a Quiet Heart

Tomorrow we leave for the weekend to go to Marky Persson's wedding in Virginia. Ian said today that he is looking forward to getting away. Needless to say, there won't be much activity on the blog. Hopefully Ian and I will be spending lots of time by the hotel pool!
Have a good Memorial Day weekend everyone.
Larissa

Hello, my name's Maria. I'm from Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, Irazil. Excuse my english, maybe you'll find some (a lot of) mistakes.I came here just because I was posting in my blog and I click to next blog. Just it. After that I read some posts and decided to write for you. I'll pray for Ian and I think he'll like to know it. These days with internet we see a lot of bad things but we also can see people trying to help others who needs. Ok, now I will pray for him and hope he is fine.
That's it. Bye.

Hey Larissa and Ian,

This is Kristen Catoe (my last name used to be Ryan). I know you don’t really know me but I work in the Conferencing Department at Sovereign Grace Ministries and worked with Ian indirectly when he did all the Save the Wheel stuff for Na a couple years ago. I can only imagine how your trial can be so ever draining at times but I wanted to just thank you for the way both of you are continuing to walk it out by glorifying God.

Six weeks ago, one month after I got married to Joe, my body suddenly and without explanation became sick with an unknown illness and long story short… it has left me mostly bedridden, in a wheelchair, and unable to do much on my own. I have been praying for Ian since his accident and still check your blog for updates (have it saved as a favorite). I just wanted to thank you, thank you, thank you for your example. I have thought of the two of you so often as I walk out this trial now in my life. I can’t wait till Heaven when we will all stand in front of our Savior and proclaim with great joy of his magnificent work here on earth through our trials. Keep battling friends. I know (in an incredibly small way) that it can be a temptation to ask “why us?” or “why now?” and “will this ever leave?” and “how much longer can I go?” but God’s grace is sufficient and there really is peace that passes all understanding as we guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus and trust in his name.

Just wanted to thank you for your provoking example. It has always been a means of grace to me but especially now in this new season of my life.

Kristen

i got this quote from emily/livi
s blog from may 2006:
"the great thing, if one can, is to stop regarding all the unpleasant things as interruptions of one's "own" or "real" life. the truth is of course that what one calls oen's real life...the life God is sending one, day by day; what one calls one's "real life" is a phantom of one's own imagination. This is what i see at moments of insight but it's hard to remember all the time". C.S. Lewis
As emily said then, ... seeking contentment, easy to say, no as easy to have. gigi
