Baseball

"I surrender to the pilgrimage you have ordained for me, including the hardships."
Raymond Ortlund, Jr.

I read this prayer not long ago, and I have to be honest. I struggled with it. God is sovereign, and he has ordained these hardships for our family, for Ian and for Larissa. But, I must travel this pilgrimage willingly, and somehow I have to daily accept that paradox. It's my attitude that must adjust to the reality of God's choice for me and for my family. Help me, Lord...

Tonight, laying on his therapy table Ian held a baseball and made the motion of throwing it. He let go, the ball landed on the table, and he moved his hand around on the table to find it again. With help, he picked it up again and repeated it a few times. Once, he held the ball and moved it in his hand to feel the seams.

Keep praying for Ian...

Steve

My daughter, Rose Huber told me about Ian and this website. Ian was in one of her classes at IUP. Reading the posts on this website every day has strengthened my own faith and made me truly thankful for what I have. Baseball is a huge part of my 15 year old son's life, along with his relationship with the LORD. I smiled when I read about Ian throwing the baseball and feeling for the seams on it. . . GOD is at work in Ian's life. Never give up the faith! Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Great to hear that about the baseball Steve. Keep stimulating Ian in all the senses you can. For example it may be helpful to visually watch a baseball game while he holds the ball to make the conection. Trust your instincts and intuition for the brain will always be God's mystery, His domain, with science only being the observer.

The other insights you share are the part of the bittersweet surrender. For our family I look back and feel that when we did surrender, and to this day continue to surrender to our Lord's will things became better.

God will and always does bless
