So close to the surface

Today, Ian pointed to his stomach. I couldn't figure out why despite asking several questions that might have led me to understand what he was trying to say. Then, later, it occurred to us that because of the circumstances he was two hours past his lunch. He was pointing to his stomach for one reason that should have been obvious. Duh.

Tonight, he was with friends he hadn't seen in a long time, and he was so alert and attentive as they interacted with each other and as they talked to him.

It's as though he's so close to the surface that we can see him in there, but we can't get him out. The Lord is the only one who can help him.

It was great being with you all last night. I was so encouraged to be with you and talk to Ian. Thanks for letting me hang out on you beautiful patio.

You will continue to be in all of the Walker's prayers.

Love,

Hi Steve.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Pointing to one's stomach could mean a number of things...like...well..."Doesn't this belt go good with my shoes?"...on second thought, it can only mean one thing..."FEED ME!"
:-)
Thanks for sharing a light-hearted moment. It's encouraging, too, because it shows that Ian is communicating!
I saw you, Ian and Larissa last night. And, yes, there were times, even from a distance, that I could see that Ian was interacting with others.
Ian, how kind of you to come out last night and show your support! I'm sure the Allens and Haugherys were SO blessed to have support from YOU!
Dear Lord, help Ian to break through the surface. Orchestrate and bless ALL of his efforts. Please do in him what he can't do on his own. Astonish us with Your majesty!

Still praying!

Thank you all for faithfully sharing what's happening with Ian (and how you all are processing things). Praise God that Ian's not only hungry, but he's communicating that he is!

We're from CLC and our niece had a TBI in 11/05. The words to this Watermark song gave us much encouragement during the difficult times. We hope it encourages you too.

Mended
By Nathan and Christy Nockels

You repair all that we have torn apart
And You unveil a new beginning in our hearts
And we stand grateful for all that has been left behind and all that goes before us…

You’ve got all things suspended,
All things connected,
Nothing was forgotten,
‘Cause Your love is perfect…

You are our Healer,
You know what’s broken.
And we’re not a mystery to You,
To You…

We will dance as You restore the wasted years
And You will sing over all our coming fears
And we’ll stand grateful for all that has been left behind and all that goes before us…

Lord, You mend the breech,
You break every fetter,
You give us Your best,
For what we thought was better…

And You are to be praised
You’ve got all things suspended
All things connected
Nothing was forgotten
‘Cause Your love is perfect
You are our healer
You know what’s broken
And we’re not a mystery to You,
Mender of the breech…
