Today was a good day

It's as though he's really trying hard. Heather, a long time friend and someone who has known Ian all his life, came today to work with Ian. She said he really cooperated with some things, though other things he resisted. She did get him to cross his feet. She also noticed that he seems to be swallowing better which, if he can do it consistently, is significant progress. Later, another friend and speech therapist, Amanda, visited and noticed again that he was cooperating with the things she would ask him to do. Tonight, Bill, an attendant care worker, noticed the same kinds of things. His comment was that Ian seemed to work so hard at focusing on the tasks at hand, it probably wore him out. He's really tired tonight.
Thank you for praying.
Steve

I have not commented on this site before, but have been praying for Ian since his accident and eagerly returning for updates. I comment now in the hope of bringing some encouragement.

See, I have struggled for over a year with a few very severe chronic illnesses, causing life-threatening reactions, confining me to one darkened room and putting me through intense suffering. A part of me is amazed that I have actually survived this far, that my family is still faithfully serving me, and that the Lord has carried me and held my broken pieces together in the darkest hours.

But another part of me looks back and says "I'm still here. I'm still fighting the same battles." And when I look at the road ahead I feel completely drained. God granted me the strength to withhold so far, but do I have the stamina to endure and keep fighting, with perseverance?

"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised." - Hebrews 10:35-36

Larissa, Ian, and Ian's family -- I don't know any of you personally, but your perseverence has spurred me on to keep going, keep fighting, keep praying. Please keep running hard after Him, knocking on heaven's doors and updating this blog so we know how to pray more specifically.

To anyone reading this comment, I entreat you to continue your prayers as you did even when Ian was in the ICU. How are they to persevere through the trial if we do not persevere in covering them all in prayer?

Ian, I have no idea what it's like to be able to do so little. It must be frustrating. Thank you for your perseverence in working to get better. Keep "running in such a way as to get the prize". May the Lord bless you, brother.

Yes, yes, yes. Thank you Jesus for answers to millions of prayers. It does give me faith for a bigger miracle yet, Ian talking and laughing!
I wondered today why Jesus brings us to the edge before he intervenes? Actally, we are probably at the edge every single moment and just don't realize it!
Praying for intervening grace and mercy to be showered on your lives, Gigi
