How can I stay in love with a man who hasn't spoken to me in a year and a half? A man who can't plan a special date for us, can't tell me anything without me asking first, can't challenge me, earn money for us, lead us in devotions or call me at work to see how my day is going. I dont' know how. I also don't know how God still loves me, someone who has nothing to offer Him. But both have happened and have made my life infinitely better.

What lovely pictures AND what beautiful thoughts! You are one special lady, and you have one special guy. I continue to pray that one day he will be able to tell you, in words, his feelings. Right now, I see it in his eyes!

Larissa, thank you for this reminder. Even before you wrote this post, your life and testimony have actively encouraged me to not take my husband for granted on a regular basis. I wish so badly that I could give you all those experiences you want. But if it is encouragement at all, God has used you so much in my life.
Praying!

Thank you for your example to all who read your blog. Thank you also for pointing us back to the Cross. I know personally how easy it is to take those we love for granted. And life experiences have shown me just how fragile life really is. How easy it is to even take God and His love for granted. How kind of him to give us these gentle reminders. Thank you for your obedience and care to share with others. I hope and pray that some day you will have your heart's desire. We are all still praying for that miracle. To God be the glory.

Larissa-
Thank you so so much for this post. I'm currently in love with a man who told me that he loved me one day then dumped me for another woman the next. I was feeling bad for myself when i checked the blog today, but then realized how lucky I am. I still get to see him every sunday at church, and exchange awkward words. You make me incredibly thankful that I can even hear his voice. Thank you for putting my heart back where it should be. I'm praying so hard that you can soon have those wonderful times with Ian.

I had the exact same thought as Rene of Latrobe....I can see his love in his eyes. And I know that he sees your love and devotion, and it must encourage him in such deep ways. And I agree with the others, that you have been an example to me and you have pointed me towards God, all for
His glory. Thank you sister.

If I were Ian and I was starting to talk again, I would make sure my first words were "Thank you!"

Thank you for putting things in perspective.
Being thankful is something we have when you step back from our day-to-day lives. My daughter has Down's Syndrome and does not talk yet. I would like to hear her just once fuss about what she is wearing like other girls her age. God's Love and Grace is such a treasure.

Be Thou my vision O Lord of my heart. Naught be all else to me save that Thou art. Thou my best thought by day or by night. Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light.

High King of heaven the victory won. May I reach heaven's joys, bright heaven's sun. Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision O Ruler of all! You are my vision O Ruler of all!

Continuing in prayer - never let go of His promises!

Your Sovereign Grace family from MA is still praying.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

hi..thank you for sharing, as always. who knows how pain transforms us into pure gold, but i'm certain it is. it seems you are becoming more & more beautiful and like our savior not in spite of these trials, but *because* of them.

sorrowful, yet rejoicing, from sf.

I came across Ian's story through the Altrogge's blog, The Blazing Center, and am friends with Donna Whitman (a friend of Ian's parents). What a blessed man Ian is to have you still by his side. And as you pointed out, how blessed each of God's children are to be loved by Him when we are so unworthy. Thanks for the reminder. You are an inspiration and a gift from God.

I was moved to tears by this post. I'm reminded of my sinfulness and the amazing grace of God through his love for us. I am challenged to love others like He has shown love for me. The grace he has given you to do just that for Ian is a beautiful testimony. Thankyou.
