it may not seem like that big of a deal. maybe no one even noticed at the restaurant.
but today, for the first time in six years, I got to sit next to Ian in a restaurant booth.
no wheelchair between us.
no awkwardly sitting on the corner of the table to reach his fork to our plate.
no arm rest digging into my ribs to help him eat.
no knee folded underneath me making me tall enough to reach him.
no wheelchair anti tippers sticking out into the aisle tripping the waitresses and waiters.
just us.
transferred to a booth.
shoulder to shoulder.
holding hands.
having date night.
sometimes it's the smallest things that are enough to keep us going.
